As many as 500 volunteers enlivened the commemoration of National Garbage Care Day (HPSN) and Indonesia Clean Day (HBI) which was held with a parade activity from Thamrin 10 - Bundaran HI - Kendal Tunnel.

Governor Hopes RDF Plant to Become Integrated Waste Management Solution

Culture and Tourism Division Jakarta Governor Deputy, Marullah Matali hoped that it could inspire Jakarta residents to turn waste into a source of income.

"This waste is a serious problem. It must be controlled from residents to the government," he expressed, Sunday (2/19).

Therefore, he encouraged residents to take advantage of the HPSN momentum to sort waste into something useful and also contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The Jakarta Provincial Government's commitment to prompting residents to be aware of waste continues to be echoed starting from the household, office, and industrial levels in Jakarta.

"We must work together to deal with waste in Jakarta. This is because the volume of waste in Jakarta per day can reach 7,500 tons or 1,200 dump trucks that are dumped into the Bantar Gebang TPST," he asserted.

Jakarta Environment Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto added that the 500 volunteers who took part in this activity came from several communities in Jakarta.

"Community participation is important to manage waste into useful materials such as compost or craft materials that produce," he stated.
